Wrote another song!

I Don’t Know (The Mine)

Made this one up out of nowhere! Was meant to be another country style song, but it turned into a Wild West story type AND my first fully written song. Classify as that because the base ideas for the Cat song came from my friends Paul & Joel and was largely a standard blues progression, whereas this one contained all my own ideas, chords, lyrics + plucking strings intro. It somehow got much more serious than the epic Cat song, but that kind of just happened ๐Ÿ˜€

Should say this all happened after seeing the excellent docu-movie Motown, when found myself somewhat inspired to write another song.

Anyways here are the lyrics…

Now I don’t know what you been told, but
Welcome to this town and it’s mine of gold

Many come this way for a brand new life
Fame & fortune have I got that right?

Well know this town is harsh and that mine is cruel
digging them rocks ain’t no game for fool

So you hear that there’s gold and treasure for free
We got a bar full of ladies and fine whiskey
10 years ago, yeah you was me
This town’ll steal away your life like you wouldn’t believe

Or you could save yourself and ride on through
Forget this place and find somewhere new…but

I see you got yourself a horse and fourty-five,
a shovel, pick axe, sticks of dynamite,
Gunna to count on your luck, just to stay alive

Know this now you’ll need more than luck
or you’ll get stuck in that drinking too much

Now I know you seen that money and you seen them stones,
but did see them graves and did see them bones?
Friends of mine from not long ago
That mine took away everything I know

Yeah this town is harsh and that mine is cruel
digging them rocks can make you fool

I don’t know what you been told, but
Welcome to this town and its mine of gold!
